FAQ

Frequently asked
questions.

SEBI status, what we build, brokers we integrate with, how engagements start, and how ownership of code and data works. If your question isn't here, get in touch.

Is OpsPhi registered with SEBI?

No. OpsPhi is a technology and consulting firm. It is not registered with SEBI as an investment adviser, research analyst or portfolio manager. OpsPhi builds and tests software systems. It does not provide investment advice, trading signals, recommendations, or portfolio or fund management services.

Do I need a SEBI licence to automate my own research or trading workflow?

Automating your own internal research, monitoring or reporting workflow is a technology decision, not a regulated advisory activity. Regulatory obligations arise from what you do with the output — for example, distributing recommendations to others. OpsPhi builds the infrastructure; how you use it within your own regulatory perimeter is your decision, and you should confirm your specific position with your compliance adviser.

What does OpsPhi actually build?

Production software for investment and trading teams across three practices: product strategy for teams building markets products, automation and AI systems for teams running research, monitoring and reporting, and quant R&D engineering for teams testing and productionising strategies. Within automation, work spans seven areas: research, signal, monitoring, execution, risk, intelligence and workflow infrastructure.

Do you provide trading signals, tips or investment advice?

No. OpsPhi does not provide signals, tips, recommendations or investment advice, and does not manage money. Where a client has their own signal or strategy logic, OpsPhi builds the infrastructure to discover, validate, monitor and distribute it inside systems the client owns. The rules and the edge remain entirely the client's.

Which brokers and data providers do you integrate with?

OpsPhi builds broker and data integrations including Zerodha Kite Connect and Interactive Brokers, alongside other broker and market-data APIs. Integration work covers order placement, modification and cancellation, order management (OMS) workflows, trade lifecycle automation, multi-account execution and scheduler frameworks.

How do you connect a trading system to Zerodha Kite Connect?

A production Kite Connect integration typically involves an authenticated session layer, an order-placement and lifecycle service that handles placement, modification and cancellation, a reconciliation process against broker state, and an audit trail of every action. OpsPhi builds this as a broker-integrated execution pipeline with operator overrides and pre-trade risk checks, rather than as standalone scripts.

How do PMS and AIF firms automate client reporting?

Reporting automation for PMS and AIF teams generally means pulling positions and transactions from source systems, applying the firm's calculation and presentation rules, generating client-ready documents on a schedule, and preserving an auditable record of what was produced and when. OpsPhi builds these as reporting and workflow infrastructure with the audit trail built in, replacing spreadsheet-driven processes.

What is walk-forward validation and why does it matter?

Walk-forward validation tests a strategy by repeatedly fitting on one period and evaluating on the immediately following unseen period, rolling forward through history. It matters because a single in-sample backtest can look strong purely through overfitting. Alongside realistic costs and regime splits, walk-forward testing gives a more honest view of whether a rule survives outside the data it was built on.

Who owns the code, systems and data?

The client does. OpsPhi builds systems the client owns and operates, including the code and the data.

How does an engagement start?

Most engagements begin with a scoped pilot — a production-grade system delivered in two to four weeks with fixed scope and a fixed price. Before that, every engagement starts with a free working session: a workflow and automation audit for desks and traders, an ops automation walkthrough for PMS and AIF teams, or a written product teardown for fintech teams.

Can OpsPhi work alongside our existing engineering team?

Yes. Engagements range from a standalone scoped build to an infrastructure partnership that extends a stack over time, to embedded product and AI leadership working inside an existing team two to three days a week.

How is confidentiality of strategy logic handled?

Strategy logic belongs to the client and stays with the client. OpsPhi builds the infrastructure around it. Public material about systems is presented as capability areas, with screenshots redacted so that strategy logic is not exposed.

Does OpsPhi work with teams outside India?

Yes. OpsPhi works across Indian and global markets, with particularly deep familiarity with Indian market structure, brokers and data providers.
